March for Nations

Hamilton Daggers Glasgow is proud to support March for Nations

STORY

Following the tragic passing of the March for Nations co-founder, Jon James’ wife  Laura James in December 2024 from Cancer, the ‘March for Nations’ expedition has been reshaped to take place within the UK, transforming into a deeply personal tribute as well as a commemorative challenge.

In August/September 2025, Jon will embark on a powerful journey to mark the 80th anniversary of both VJ Day and the end of World War 2, aiming to raise as much funding as possible for two chosen charities, Combat Stress & St. Gemma’s Hospice.

This revised challenge will see Jon walk from The Commando Memorial in Scotland to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales, some 440 miles. Along the way, he will summit the three highest peaks in their respective nations — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Yr Wyddfa, entirely on foot over 17 days.

The expedition will start with a memorial service at the Commando Memorial on August 15th (VJ Day) and will culminate with a further act of Remembrance at the National Arboretum on September 2nd (the officially recognised end of WW2).

These services will be held in memory of both the fallen and of Laura, whose spirit continues to inspire this journey.
